Lacing up your Maggie Sottero (Corset Gown)
Hold
bodice under the armpits (high) with the bust lifted
to a desired resting spot.
The
bride can help hold her dress just under the Bust
line.
Fold
the tie in half, determining the center of the lace.
Stick the left end against the body (the bride's back)
and lace it across to the other side pulling both together.
As you continue through the loops, thread from back to
front, left over the right. The right tie side will always
be behind. The left tie side pulls over the top. There
will be a woven look.
Complete the first four sets of loops, pulling them
tight. Continue the rest of the sets as the first four
but tighten as you go. To have a proper fit, it looks like
a V where the two sides meet at the bottom. You can
do a traditional floppy Maggie Bow or a nice square
knot (sailor knot)--right over left and through, left
over right and tighten. Some brides will tuck in the
long ends of the laces on the inside of the dress.
Lessons are given at the shop if you would like a loved
one or friend to learn. Also lace up services are offered
at $25 and hour, not including gas, if we need
to travel. Call ahead to schedule a consultant today.
